Kieron Pollard reprimanded for PSL
Pakistan Cricket Board announced that Multan Sultans all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been reprimanded for a level 1 breach of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during his side’s match against Lahore Qalandars at the Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
WHO IS KIERON POLLARD
Kieron Pollard is a talented and explosive cricketer from Trinidad and Tobago who has had a successful career as an all-rounder in various T20 leagues around the world. However, over the years, he has been involved in several incidents where he has been reprimanded by cricketing authorities for his actions on and off the field.
Reprimanded incidents Pollard
One of the most notable incidents occurred during the 2014 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) when Pollard was captaining the Barbados Tridents. During a match against the Jamaica Tallawahs, Pollard threw his bat in frustration after being dismissed, narrowly missing teammate Jason Holder. He was subsequently fined 75% of his match fee and given a one-match suspension by the CPL disciplinary committee.
REPRIMANDED BY ICC
In 2015, Pollard was reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a Twitter outburst aimed at commentator Sanjay Manjrekar. Pollard took offense to Manjrekar’s comments about his lack of form during a match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Pollard tweeted, “Do you know how I get big so.. About BRAINLESS.. words are very powerful .. once it leaves u can’t take it back.. sins of parents fall on…” The ICC deemed Pollard’s comments to be “insulting” and “offensive” and fined him 25% of his match fee.
CPL 2017
In another incident during the 2017 CPL, Pollard was fined 20% of his match fee for showing dissent towards the umpire’s decision during a match between Trinbago Knight Riders and St Lucia Stars. Pollard was visibly upset when he was given out and lingered on the field, shaking his head and muttering under his breath, which led to the fine.
2019
In 2019, Pollard was reprimanded by the West Indies Cricket Board for his behavior during a T20 international match against India. Pollard was involved in an altercation with Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav, where he appeared to intimidate and confront the bowler after a delivery. Pollard was fined 20% of his match fee for breaching the ICC’s code of conduct.
Despite these incidents, Pollard remains a popular and respected cricketer around the world, known for his hard-hitting batting and useful medium-pace bowling. While he has had his fair share of disciplinary issues, he has also been a positive influence on his teams and has played a key role in their success on numerous occasions.
