Islamabad, June 10, 2026 – Yawar Hussain, a BS-20 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), has assumed charge as Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).
The Establishment Division, Government of Pakistan, transferred and posted Hussain to the PSB under the Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Division on a deputation basis with immediate effect.

Before joining PSB, Hussain was serving with the Government of Punjab. He brings extensive administrative experience and a strong record in public service to the role.
Focus on grassroots and athlete support
In his first remarks after taking office, Hussain pledged to prioritize sports development nationwide and strengthen institutional support for athletes, coaches, and national federations.

He emphasized four key areas: grassroots sports development, talent identification, capacity building, and upgrading facilities to help Pakistani athletes compete and win at regional and international levels.
Hussain also reaffirmed PSB’s commitment to collaborate closely with national sports federations, provincial governments, educational institutions, and other stakeholders. The goal, he said, is to create more opportunities for young athletes and build a stronger sporting culture across Pakistan.

PSB officials and staff welcomed Hussain and expressed confidence that his leadership and administrative expertise will drive meaningful progress for sports in the country.
