Pakistan to Face India in U18 Asia Cup Hockey Semi-Final on June 5

KAKAMIGAHARA, JAPAN — Pakistan qualified for the semi-finals of the Under-18 Asia Cup 2026 after defeating Bangladesh 5-2 in a thrilling contest at Kakamigahara on Thursday.
Pakistan drew first blood early, with Abdullah Awan netting twice starting in the 3rd minute. Adeel, Asam Haider, and Muhammad Yahya Najeeb added one goal each to seal the win. For Bangladesh, Tarikul Islam and Manna Islam were on target. Pakistan’s Muhammad Yahya Najeeb was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
Pakistan’s forwards capitalized on scoring opportunities throughout the match, while the midfield and defensive lines maintained firm control for most of the 60 minutes. The victory puts Pakistan firmly in contention for the championship trophy.
Pakistan will now face
arch-rivals India in the semi-final on June 5th.
Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani congratulated the players and team management on the achievement. He praised the team’s discipline, determination, and performance, calling it the result of tireless efforts by players, coaches, and support staff who are working to restore Pakistan hockey’s lost glory on the international stage.
“This junior team’s advancement to the semi-finals is a significant milestone that will further boost the development of junior hockey in the country,” Wani said. “The team will now prepare for the semi-final clash, aiming to maintain their winning momentum and move closer to the final and championship title.”

The Under-18 Asia Cup 2026 is being organized by the Asian Hockey Federation and is being played from May 29 to June 6 in Kakamigahara, Japan.
