Dr. Amjad Saqib Hails “The Burewalians” Initiative to Unite Burewala Community in Lahore

LAHORE — In a vibrant display of regional solidarity and cultural heritage, “The Burewalians”—an organization representing individuals from Burewala residing in the provincial capital—recently hosted a grand community ceremony at a local hotel in Lahore.

The prestigious gathering brought together a large and distinguished turnout of political leaders, business magnates, social figures, medical professionals, legal experts, and prominent journalists. The event was gracefully conducted by renowned actor and former bureaucrat Mr. Abdul Basit Khan, who served as the evening’s compere.

Founder Chairman of the Akhuwat Foundation and Sitara-e-Imtiaz recipient, Dr. Amjad Saqib, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Addressing the packed hall, Dr. Saqib lauded the organizers for their vision in establishing a unified platform for the expatriate Burewala community.
“This initiative is a commendable and inspiring step toward fostering true unity, brotherhood, and collective social welfare,” Dr. Amjad Saqib stated during his keynote address. “When communities living away from their hometowns stay connected and support one another’s growth, they contribute not only to their own development but also to the broader fabric of society.”
Promoting Brotherhood and Regional Identity
The gathering served as a dynamic forum for diaspora members to reconnect, network, and discuss future collaborative initiatives aimed at social upliftment.
Expressing his views on the significance of the event, Guest of Honour and former Test cricketer Mohammad Irfan highlighted the emotional bond expatriates share with their hometown.

Echoing similar sentiments, former Hockey Captain Shahbaz Senior emphasized the role of such platforms in mentoring the younger generation:
“Bringing youth and veterans together under one roof creates a strong mentorship channel. ‘The Burewalians’ have successfully built a bridge of shared values and collective ambition here in Lahore.”
