Pakistan’s Bank of Punjab–sponsored veterans tennis contingent made an impressive start at the Robinson Khao Lak ITF World Masters Tour MT200 Tournament, highlighted by a sensational upset victory from Khurram Imtiaz, who toppled the event’s second seed in the 55+ category.

Khurram delivered one of the standout performances of the tournament, unleashing 14 aces and dominating Switzerland’s Hans Renile, ranked World No. 247 in his age division, with a commanding blend of power and consistency. Competing under blazing temperatures, Khurram controlled the match from the baseline, using his booming serve and penetrating forehand to secure a clinical 6-2, 6-3 victory in the elimination round.

In the 70+ category, Pakistan’s Waqar Nisar also began his campaign in emphatic style, producing a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win over Iran’s Majid Amininan in the round-robin stage. His commanding performance further strengthened Pakistan’s bright start at the championship.
