They say, “dress like the job you want, not the job you have”. It is the same for the lifestyle you daydream about every time you look at someone you idolize. Clothes you pick to wear have more power over you than to just making you look good. They influence your mind and boost your mood like a chameleon changing its color according to the surroundings. You start acting similarly to your appearance. You don’t believe me? Let me explain. For instance, when you dress formally, your body language changes drastically. Your body and mindset transform you into an entrepreneur heading for a meeting. Similarly, you have an event to attend but you are not in the mood, but the moment you put on your party dress you find yourself humming and dancing in front of the mirror before you know it. It is the same for an active lifestyle! Doesn’t matter how unmotivated you may find yourself at that moment, when you see yourself in active gear, you are going to feel the pump throughout your veins, eager to get to your gym, the ground or even on the hill you are planning to hike. By activewear, I don’t mean those old set of trousers and your home bound shirts or hoodies that has been lying around in your wardrobe as one of your pajamas. Clothes that are comfortable yet functional and stylish. Clothes that will keep you cool during your intense workouts. Clothes that fit your body like butter.
Activewear managed to become a huge deal in the fashion industry and made it look easy. There was a time when sportswear, activewear, performance wear, and athleisure were words used when referring to clothes used for athletic activities. It’s not like this anymore. Funny enough, sports were played wearing formal clothes a hundred years ago. In the olden days, people played tennis in their everyday formal clothes. Women played tennis wearing long dresses that got shorter over time, and men wore shoes, trousers, and shirts. There wasn’t sportswear or breathable fabrics, no seamless t-shirts, no sneakers, nothing. Now, sportswear can be used to go to work. This cycle is called fashion. The concept of wearing specific attire for physical activity came with the creation of spandex and later came nylon. Flexible and versatile, garments made from these materials have become popular in gyms, sports centers, and the streets of every city. As the line between working out and going out blurs, the activewear of the future is evolving to be both functional and fashionable.
Pakistan was late to join this lifestyle, but it has excitedly jumped on the bandwagon as we see numerous brands popping up using the trend activewear, performance wear, and athleisure. One such brand who has been at the forefront of this journey is Bodybrics. They launched in 2017 with the brand slogan “GET GOING” and began selling a wide range of high-quality activewear and athleisure clothing in Pakistan. Celebrities are playing a positive role in influencing an active lifestyle as they speak openly about it. The rising millennial population is another driving force behind activewear. Also, there is a growing inclination towards health & fitness due to numerous research on it. We all want to lose those extra pounds that are making us feel bad in some way. Would you believe me if I told you that shedding extra pounds is much simpler than you thought? Well! You must have faith in me on this. It is tried and true. Activewear is the key.
